Why is Ashoksundari, daughter of Shiva, not worshipped?

Devi Ashoksundari is the eldest daughter of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati. In this article, I will tell you Why Goddess Ashoksundari is not worshipped.
Normally you would have seen Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati with only 2 kids i.e. Lord Ganesh and Lord Kartikeya. Because of this, may people think that Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati have only 2 kids, that are Lord Ganesh and Lord Kartikeya.
But this is not the truth. Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati have 6 children if we precisely study the scriptures. The 6 children are Ganesh, Kartikeya, Andhakasura, Hariharan, Mansa and Ashoksundari. Mansa and Ashoksundari are daughters while rest 4 are their sons.
Today we will talk about Goddess Ashoksundari who is also known as Devi Viraja, and why is she not worshiped.  Very is little is known about Devi Ashoksundari. She only finds mentions in Padma Purana and that too only in few chapters.
She is associated with common salt. Devi Mansa, the second daughter of Lord Shiva, is the Goddess of snakes and is believed to be the mother of snakes. Devi Sundari, as her name suggests, is the goddess of beauty and attractiveness.

Who is Devi Ashoksundari?

Ashok in Sanskrit means the one who relieves from sadness. Sundari means beautiful. So Ashoksundari means a beautiful girl who relieves everyone from sadness.
According to the legends, Devi Sundari was born by the powers of Mata Parvati only. She is not the biological daughter of Shiva and Parvati.

How was Devi Ashoksundari born?

It is believed that when Shiva left Kailash for taking Samadhi for some time, Kartikeya left for warfare and military struggles between Demons and Gods, and Ganesh left for doing penances; Mata Parvati was left alone in the palace in her abode Kailash.
She was feeling very lonely and felt a need for a daughter who could stay up with her and give her company. It was then, Mata Parvati went to the Kalpavriksha, the wish fulfilling tree.
She asked the Kalpavriksha for a daughter. Instantly a very beautiful girl came out. Thus Devi Ashoksundari was born.

Who is Ashoksundari married to?

Devi Ashoksundari is married to King Nahusha. King Nahusha was the king of the Lunar Chandravamshi Dynasty. According to a legend, once upon a time, he was made the temporary king of heaven.
However due to arrogance and not fulfilling his responsibilities accordingly, he was thrown out of the heaven and once again Lord Indra was made the king of heaven.

Why is Devi Ashoksundari not worshipped?

There is no solid reason that why she is not worshipped. Though she is worshipped in very few regions of South India in the form of Bala Tripurasundari.
It may have happened that she was not so influential in the Hindu cultures and traditions. However she worshipped in the auspicious month of Chaitra.
Goddess Sundari is associated with salt. It has a story behind it. When Lord Shiva had cut the head of Lord Ganesh, he didn’t knew that he was his own son. Devi Sundari was also present there.
But she was horrified by the angry form of Shiva. So she hid behind a sack of salt. When Parvati came to knew all this mishap, she became angry and cursed Ashoksundari that she will be never worshipped.
